Original Axel Design
Tiny is the first local version of a traction trebuchet. The whole class which Mungoe aptly named "Atlantian Style Trebuchets" as they are small, and highly mobile. I built this entire engine in one evening for a grand total of $40. Tiny could easily be crewed by a single person (of course the rules require at least two), however using a three person crew would dramatically increase the rate of fire, with one person acting solely as loader and the other to as pullers. Anyway, here are some photos of Tiny. Note the vertical pole is actually 8', I used a shorter one since the photos were taken inside. If you have any questions about the design, building one, or other comments, I would love to hear from you.
- The photos show the original axle design, thisthrowing arm failed! The plans below include the redesigned axle which survived Pennsic and putting over 500 shots down range, on two separate engines.
